TUESDAY: 12th Nov. 2019 TOPIC: PROFITABLE SERVICE
[Part I]Text: Malachi 3:13-18 *MEMORY VERSE:Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servants knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you [John 15:15] *MESSAGE:When I picked up my Bible to know more about service to God, it amazed me to see that service is to God the way raw materials are to manufacturers/producers. Service is one of the channels that creates for God, and as well for who surrenders self for service to the Almighty God. As I continued it amazed me more that short, or periodical service to God can not earn any man anything tangible. Just as National youth corps [N.Y.S.C] service doesn’t give full staffs benefits to temporal serving graduates in any service field in my country-Nigeria. It’s continual and permanent service to God that pays. For example: king Dairus testified concerning Daniel when he was forced to throw him into lion’s den in Daniel 6:16c that, “Thy God whom thou servest continually, He will deliver thee.” ‘Thy God whom thou servest continually!’ This statement indicates that, it’s continual service to God that delivers rewards of service to one. And according to Deut.10.vs 12; 11vs.13 and Josh.22 vs.5 continual service to God is also a major sign of love to God. Service means: the act of serving; the performance of labour for the benefit of another, or at another’s command. So, as a Christian, when you go extra length in detrimental to your personal work, to your strength, to your time and even to your earnings for God or for His work, it’s a sign of labouring for Him in service. It also means you are obedient to God’s command for His benefit, but most importantly for your own self benefits. In Romans 12 vs.1, Paul said it is your expected and reasonable service. Colossians 3 vs.24 says, all who serves God shall inherit the rewards God reserves for His servants. In verse 14th of our Bible text, someone mocked a good servant to God that, his continual rendering service to God is in vain. Immediately God began to reply the mocker in the next verse that, no one who serves Him would go unrewarded. There are uncountable benefits to serving God continually. But we shall mention only two in today’s part:
- According to verse 3 of our text, continual service to God opens ones record of remembrance before God. Remembrance especially for divine safety and sustenance year to year- Read Deuteronomy 11:12.
- Transformation from a servant to a friend of God. In verse 17th of our text, God continued by saying whoever serves Him shall be His own. In our memory verse, Jesus said, because you are concern about the work of God, you will no longer be called servants, but friends. There are many great things we stand to benefit if we are committed to and continually serving God. Deploy yourself or money for God’s use from now. Receive grace!
- Thank You Lord for this teaching on call to serve You.
- Oh Lord my God, arrest my heart, my hands, my time and my cash for Your service continually from today.
PEACEFUL AND FRUITFUL WEEK TO YOU ALL IN JESUS NAME!
